Dark sky event in Terlingua on Saturday

PRESIDIO, BREWSTER counties – Join Big Bend Ranch State Park -Texas Parks and Wildlife, Barton Warnock Visitor Center and Big Bend National Park for a dark sky event this Saturday, December 1 at the Terlingua baseball field, 5:30-9pm (or later if the stargazing is good).

A short presentation will be followed by a guided constellation tour and star gazing. Telescopes will be provided but feel free to bring your own.

Interested in night sky photography? Want to learn about camera settings and other tips? Bring your camera, Katy Baldock and Jennifer Hogue Peña will be there to get you set up.

Want to get involved in efforts to help protect the night sky, meet new people and support public lands? This is a great opportunity to meet Park Rangers and representatives from Compadres del Rancho Grande (Friends of Big Bend Ranch State Park), Big Bend Conservation Alliance, and BBCA Terlingua to learn how to get involved.

Chairs will be provided, but your own camp chair will probably be more comfortable so bring it if you can.

This will be a low light program. Please bring a headlamp or flashlight (preferably with a red light option).

There will be snacks! Compliments of Compadres del Rancho Grande (Friends of Big Bend Ranch State Park).
