In memory of JOHN SPANAGEL Our Condolences

We at Kleinman Consultants extend our deepest sympathy to the family and loved ones of Mr. John Spanagel, who passed away on December 21st , 2018.

The business relationship and personal friendship we had with John Spanagel was a source of enrichment and enjoyment to all of us. We shall miss John greatly. Mr. Spanagel was hired as a land surveyor for Kleinman Consultants in 2018, shortly after Kleinman’s offices opened in Presidio, Texas. John was an individual that truly loved what he did. He used to say: “I love my job so much I can’t believe people pay me to do it”. Up until the few months before his passing, he enjoyed going into the rugged mountains in his Ford Bronco and survey the landscape, whether it was for private landowners, ranchers and/or public and non-profit entities. He was definitely the type of person that exemplified the phrase ‘boots on the ground’. Ramon Carrasco, President and CEO of Kleinman Consultants says, “John had kind heart and he was dedicated to his work. He had a lot of knowledge of this region and area. He loved being outside. We were lucky to bring him on board last year.”

He has been a friend of Kleinman Consultants and the Carrasco family for over 30 years. Mr. Ruben Carrasco, Presidio County Roads and Bridges Supervisor and part-time topographer/surveyor says that he worked under John in the 80s, and John became Ruben’s friend and surveying mentor. Recently, Joe Parker, John’s surveying technician with Kleinman and a graduate student at Sul Ross said this: “John had a natural calling to survey and radiate happiness. He was a devoted, hardworking, whimsical and loving man of high integrity who made the world a better place throughout his personal and professional life.”

John Spanagel was held in the highest regard by our employees and by many others with whom he worked with in West Texas. He set an example that will continue to be an inspiration to us all. Vicky Carrasco, Vice-President and COO of Kleinman Consultants says: “John had such a peaceful and positive way of communicating and interacting with people around him. He was diligent in his work, and always garnered trust and respect with those that sought his surveying services. Kleinman was lucky to have John as part of our team in 2018. He will truly be missed.”
