John S. Fitzgerald, formerly of Fort Davis and Marfa, passed away at his home in Sun City, Arizona at the age of 77 on January 20, 2019.
John was born to Johnnie S. Fitzgerald and Margaret Duncan Fitzgerald in Pecos, Texas on June 19, 1941 and graduated from Fort Davis High School.
On August 1, 1964, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Weston. John and Ann were married 50 years.
He was the president of Fort Davis State Bank and was with the Production Credit Association before that.
John was a proud Vietnam veteran, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
John leaves behind two sons, Scott and his spouse Karmin of Tempe, Arizona, and Jeff and his spouse Alvina of Glendale, Arizona; his sister, Liz Posey of Rochelle, Texas; five grandchildren, Weston, Grant, and Jerry Fitzgerald and Tye and Jordan Ridgeway; and numerous great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Ann Fitzgerald in 2014.
Graveside services will be held at 11am Wednesday, January 30 in Hillcrest Cemetery in Fort Davis with Pastor Gary Mathis of San Antonio officiating.
Pallbearers are John Mahoney, Grant Fitzgerald, George Johnson, Johnny Wofford, Stormy Pruitt and Jim Carlberg. Honorary pallbearers are Dale Parker and Jim Walker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Polidori Hospice House in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
