Brito

Celia P. Brito of Presidio passed in peace on Monday, February 11, 2019, at the age of 86 in Odessa.

Rosary service will be Friday, February 15 at 7pm at Santa Teresa de Jesus Catholic Church in Presidio. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am Saturday, February 16 at the church. Burial will be in Desert Hills Cemetery. Fr. Mike Alcuino will officiate.

Mrs. Brito was a retired U.S. Postal Service worker of 29 years and a leader in the community. She was involved in numerous organizations and clubs, such as the Blue Devil Booster Club, the American Legion, the establishment of ambulance services in Presidio, and a devoted member of the Santa Teresa Catholic Church.

Celia is survived by her three sons, Ruben and his wife Gloria Brito of Presidio, Raul Brito of Odessa, and Ricardo and his wife Herminia Brito of Odessa; her daughter, Rebecca Brito of El Paso; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Manuel Portillo of El Paso.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Refugia Portillo; her husband, Rogelio “Baby” Brito; her son, Rogelio Brito Jr.; and three sisters, Hortencia Ortiz, Julia Kitaoka and Guadalupe Gonzalez.

She was a hard-working, strong mother, a loving grandmother, a great friend, and a wonderful citizen of the community. She loved many, and many loved her. We will miss her dearly and we thank her for all her contributions, dedication, and love to her family, friends, and the community of Presidio.
