Sul Ross State University’s fall 2018 enrollment data has been certified with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and shows an Alpine campus enrollment of 1,885 students, down from 1,996 in fall 2017. The 5.6 percent decrease includes an undergraduate decrease of six percent and a graduate student decrease of five percent. Total semester credit hours also decreased for undergraduates (five percent) and graduate students (seven percent).
In demographics, the Alpine campus was mostly undergraduate (71 percent), with a slight majority female (52 percent), and a slight majority of Hispanic origin (51 percent). New students made up more than a quarter of the student population (27 percent). While the majority of undergraduates were enrolled full-time (80 percent), the majority of graduate students were enrolled part-time (82 percent).
Fall 2018 enrollment at the Middle Rio Grande campuses (Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Uvalde) shows a nine percent decrease from fall 2017 (974 to 890 students). Undergraduate enrollment decreased by six percent and graduate student enrollment by 17 percent.
