FORT STOCKTON – The Lady Devils recently met the Sonora Lady Bronchos in basketball action at Fort Stockton High School . “We didn’t have the start we were hoping for,” said Coach Alonzo Samaniego. “At the end of the first quarter, the score was 7-0 in Sonora’s favor. By halftime we were down 22-7. At the end of the third we were down 33-11. We outscored them in the 4th quarter 11-3, but it was a bit too late.” The Lady Devils played hard until the end of the game, according to Samaniego. “We played a pretty good defensive game but never managed to settle down on the offensive side,” he said. Leading scorers for the Lady Devils were Ivett Ramos with 7, Alexa Baeza with 6, Alejandra Proaño with 3, Sofia Garcia with 2, and Nathalia Montemayor with 2 points.  “Our overall record was 13-15,” Samaniego said. “It was a great season as we finished 2nd in district. We will miss the leadership of our four graduating seniors but have a great group of underclassmen returning next season”.  The following athletes received all-district honors.
