The candidate filing deadline passed at 5pm on Friday, showing that there will be two new Presidio City Council members come May 4. With incumbent Isela Nuñez resigning last month, and incumbent Victor Hernanedez not seeking re-election, three residents have stepped forward to fill the two posts: Irvin Olives, Jeffrey Roberts, and Rogelio Zubia. The election is at large, and the two top vote-getters will take office. Longtime mayor, educator, and musician John Ferguson didn’t draw an opponent. No election likely in Presidio school board election Only the four Presidio School Board members up for election this year tossed their hats into the ring. Incumbent trustees Ethel Barriga, Yvonne Spencer, Hugo Ramos and Fidel M. Baeza all filed for re-election. No one else sought school board office. When there are uncontested elections, officials typically cancel them and save some dollars/pesos/euros.
