PRESIDIO – The process for the City of Presidio to change from a General Law Type A Municipal Government to a Home Rule Municipal Government has been approved by the Home Rule Charter Commission to present to the City Council for their approval. Once the council approves the proposed new City Charter, it will be placed on the city ballot in the May 4, 2019 General Election. Cities with more than 5,000 residents are encouraged by the state to adopt a Home Rule Charter that gives better local control of city government to its citizens.
