The Big Bend Chapter of the Native Plant Society (NPSOT) presents its Spring Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at N. 8th St. and Ave. E in Alpine. The sale includes more than 135 species of plants native to Trans-Pecos Texas and adjacent areas in northern Mexico. “Natives are the way to go for water-wise gardening that supports wildlife and pollinators with food, shelter and beauty,” said chapter president Dallas Baxter. “With climate change upon us, gardening with natives brings us closer to supporting the world around us.” NPSOT members will be on hand to answer questions, help customers make choices and advise on planting. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Mike Powell Botany Scholarship at Sul Ross and make next year’s sale possible. The sale is cash or check only.
