Marfa artist opens show in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – The Hunt Gallery in San Antonio presents Life and Light in the Desert, a show of paintings and sculpture by Marfa artist, Mary Baxter. This will be the artist’s fourth show at the gallery and features 15 large paintings and numerous small studies of landscapes and scenes from the Chihuahuan desert, as well as several bronze sculptures of animals.

Baxter has lived in and painted the Big Bend region for 24 years. She considers her paintings to be a visual narrative of quiet moments in the desert. Her paintings convey the serene beauty of the mountains and arroyos, ocotillo and prickly pear, and horses and cows.

The show opens November 7 and runs through November 24.

The works can be seen at huntgallery.net.
