Presidio Education Foundation gifts 120 care packages to teachers

PRESIDIO — Last week, the Presidio Education Foundation surprised teachers in Presidio by delivering 120 “Teacher Care Packages” to all educators in the school district. Each care package contained over $30 of school supplies, including face masks, pencils, pens, highlighters, dry erase markers, markers and notepads. In addition, the foundation distributed 15 Amazon gift cards ranging from $25 to $100, as well as two 27-inch computer monitors.

President of the board, Brian Vasquez, visited the elementary, middle school and high school campuses to distribute the packages between teacher training sessions and offer words of appreciation and encouragement. Vasquez stated, “Making a difference in Presidio and beyond through education is our vision statement, and each of you do that on a daily basis, year after year.”

“The least that the foundation can do is provide every teacher with basic supplies, including several face masks.” Vasquez enthusiastically stated, “The education foundation was able to take $3,500 in donations, purchase the most common school supplies in larger quantities to get better pricing, and physically deliver them to Presidio. Furthermore, the supplies were purchased using smile.amazon.com, which earns the foundation a quarterly donation from Amazon. “Last school year, the foundation received over $250 from Amazon as a result of the smile.amazon.com program. In turn, the foundation awards this as a scholarship to a graduating senior.”
