PRESIDIO — Presidio is bringing home the gold after the District 4-3A cross-country meet at Lucy Rede Franco Middle School in Presidio on Sunday. The varsity girls team excelled, bringing home first place for the fourth consecutive year. And for the first time, Presidio’s varsity boys team were also declared district champions.
Those results obviously qualify both teams for regional meet, which happens in Lubbock on Monday, November 9.
The middle school boys were also district champions, with Cristobal Zuniga earning first place at just under 11 minutes and six seconds. Jose Guerrero had a time of around 11 minutes and 44 seconds in that race, placing him in third.
On the varsity boys team, Emilio Rios was crowned district champion with a time of around 16 minutes and 47 seconds. On the varsity girls’ side, Andrea Navarrete was the top performer, coming in in third place with a time of around 15:31.
