MARFA — The Friends of the Ruidosa Church hosts an adobe-making day in Marfa on Saturday, June 21, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 800 E Galveston, Marfa. (Take the dirt road back to Joey Benton’s yard at the intersection of Galveston and S. Aparejo.)

Learn traditional adobe techniques and help preserve the historic Ruidosa Church. No experience needed — just bring water, sun protection, and wear work clothes. The event is free and open to all, including children.

All bricks made will be used in the next phase of restoration of the adobe church, which was a foundation of community life on the Rio Grande in Ruidoso, about 37 miles west of Presidio. For more information on the project, see www.ruidosachurch.org or email ruidosachurch@gmail.com
