Dear friends,

Join us for our next Tri-County Unified Demonstration on Thursday, July 17, at 6 p.m. on the Marfa courthouse lawn as we honor the legacy of Congressman John Lewis and continue the fight for voting rights.

Please sign up using the link below:

We’ll gather at the courthouse lawn with our signs, where there will be water available and a lineup of inspiring guest speakers. Afterward, we’ll march together as a community over to Planet Marfa, where folks are invited to grab some food, socialize, and stick around if they’d like — live music by Tasche de La Rocha begins at 8 p.m. It’s a chance to unwind and connect after making our voices heard, and people are welcome to stay as long as they’d like or head out when they need to.

This demonstration is part of our ongoing regional effort to build power, visibility and solidarity across Presidio, Jeff Davis and Brewster counties. For this gathering, we’ll come together in Marfa — each event has its place, its purpose, and its voice.

The more of us who show up, the louder our message will be.

Let’s make some good trouble — together.

Sincerely,
Presidio County Democratic Party

Dear Editor,

In last week’s edition of The Sentinel, Marfa City Councilmember and ASMR misogynist Eddie Pallarez took aim at my husband Travis Acreman, calling him an “idiot.”

Councilmember Pallarez, while I understand you’re under a lot of pressure because of your actions, I encourage you to devote your energy to self-betterment and making amends in your community rather than trying to make excuses for your bad behavior. As a husband, I naturally take issue with you having called Trav an idiot; after all, at least he knows how a tape recorder works.

As to the charge you made against Travis where you claim he is just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks … my suggestion to you is to stop leaving so many plates of proverbial spaghetti laying around and there will be nothing to throw.

Sincerely,
Tony Georges

Dear Editor,

I’d like to give recognition to Dr. Mark Morrison (Marfa City Council member), Dr. Patrick Daly, the Marfa Volunteer Fire Department, and the Marfa EMS for making themselves available last week at the Marfa Airport.

I was required to perform a precautionary landing because of what turned out to be a failed cockpit landing gear indicator; and all turned out well.

Mark rapidly responded to the airport, reported his visual findings to me as I flew over; then notified the emergency staff and capably directed them to appropriate locations along the runway access sites. Thanks to all involved.
