MARFA — The Marfa Lights Festival celebrates its 38th year next weekend with a three-day celebration at the Presidio County Courthouse kicking off on Friday, August 29, and concluding Sunday, August 31.
The public vote for the Marfa Lights Festival Parade grand marshal has closed; the top three nominees are Linda Ojeda, Beth Kerzee and Minnie Dominguez. There’s still time to sign up for the parade by visiting the Marfa Chamber of Commerce website. The parade starts promptly at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. The lineup starts at 10 a.m. across from the Marfa Elementary school.
In addition to live music throughout the weekend at the courthouse, this year the chamber is bringing back the tradition of the Sunday night dance. The dance will take place at the Marfa Activities Center (MAC) building and feature music by Juan Martinez and Grupo Alturas. Tickets for the dance are $20 per person, $35 per couple and $100 per table.
