The FBI in El Paso is seeking information—with a reward of up to $25,000—regarding the killing of 20-year-old Presidio resident Alan Valenzuela outside a bar in Ojinaga, Mexico, in July.
Valenzuela was previously a student in Presidio ISD schools. Two other men and a woman with him were not injured. All were employees of Cibolo Creek Ranch. The four were at the Palace Bar early in the morning of Sunday, July 6, when gunfire erupted.
A video sent to Big Bend Sentinel at the time appeared to show their Jeep parked when another vehicle drives up and begins firing at a white car behind the Jeep, and the stray bullets hit the back of the Jeep. However, the FBI’s notice stated: “ … a cartel-related shooting occurred outside the bar. The men stayed inside for a short time and then went to their vehicle to drive back to the Presidio Port of Entry to return to the United States. While driving, their vehicle received gunfire, which struck and killed Valenzuela, who was in the backseat.” The Sentinel was also told that account.
The friends drove to the International Bridge, where help arrived, but Valenzuela was already deceased. Presidio County Justice of the Peace Juanita Bishop then arrived at the bridge to pronounce Valenzuela dead.
“We ask the public to share any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, that could lead to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of anyone involved in the murder of Alan Valenzuela,” Jarod Brown, special agent in charge of the FBI El Paso Field Office, told KTSM TV in El Paso. “Alongside our partners at every level, we seek justice for all victims of violent crime.”
