Artists are invited to gather and create at “Artists Against the Wall” on Saturday, March 28, from 1-9 p.m. at the Rio Grande Village group campsite in Big Bend National Park, with optional camping afterwards. The intention is to create an archive that speaks to what could be lost to a border wall—”shaping works and moments that honor the sacred land in its wholeness, its beauty, and its fragility,” says Alpine artist, designer and coordinator of the event, Hannah-Kate Schaeffer. “Our creations will stand as both memory and offering, expanding the list of what is at stake, resisting erasure, and giving voice to the lives and systems bound to the sacred course of the Rio Grande.”

Schaeffer says artists are invited to engage in whatever way feels natural—whether “creating in solitude, exchanging ideas and inspiration, or collaborating in the open air.” Those interested in attending should RSVP at hannahkateschaeffer.com/artinbigbend. The site also has a link to reserve a tent campsite if you wish to stay overnight at Group Campsite D.
