Big Bend Sentinel is a news publication that covers the people and the culture of our Far-West-Texas region. The Big Bend spans three counties: Presidio, Brewster, and Jeff Davis—a mountainous high desert area about the size of Switzerland.

We’re published by a new non-profit organization, Sentinel News Project. Our goal is to provide reporting based on direct observation. We write about what we see, and take down what people are 

Founded in 1926, the Sentinel is the Big Bend’s oldest news source. The Presidio International is our sister publication. Both weekly newspapers are produced from the newsroom at 209½  W. El Paso Street in Marfa. Printed in Monahans, the print editions arrive in area mailboxes and newsstands on Thursdays.

We’re a tiny staff—and want to do more. Help our cause, and the cause of a free, independent press, by joining us.
