Presidio Education Foundation awards scholarships to all class of 2018 grads

PRESIDIO – Last Tuesday, Presidio High School held its annual Scholarship Night banquet for the Class of 2018. A total 54 students applied for scholarships, and thanks to this year’s donors, the Presidio Education Foundation was able to award a scholarship to all 54 applicants.

In years past, the scholarship program was operated by employees of Presidio ISD. This year, the recently established Presidio Education Foundation was able to play an active role in the program by increasing the donor base and providing additional funding.

Scholarship Night this year was held at the Presidio High School Cafeteria and was attended by approximately 150 applicants, parents, teachers, administrators, and PISD and Presidio Education Foundation board members.

President of the Presidio Education Foundation board, Brian Vasquez, and fellow board members in attendance, Vicky Carrasco (Vice President), Jose Leyva (Treasurer), Rogelio Zubia (Secretary), and Velva Saenz awarded three newly established Presidio Education Foundation “Board of Directors” scholarships. In addition, the foundation was able to award scholarships of varying dollar amounts to all applicants. The efforts of the foundation complemented the generous annual Presidio Local Scholarships program.
