Man found deceased on ranch road

PRESIDIO COUNTY – A 39-year-old Odessa man was found deceased on a ranch road Thursday evening, according to the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office.

Juan Reynaldo Parada was found by his father, Mr. Parada. The elder Parada owns the Parada Ranch near Valentine, off of Chispa Road in Presidio County.

Preliminary reports are that Juan Parada succumbed to of heat exhaustion after walking about four miles in the summer heat after his truck broke down, said Presidio County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Joel Nuñez Jr.

A 911 call was made to Van Horn and also to the Presidio County dispatch.

According to Sheriff Danny Dominguez, the deceased called his father from Odessa and said he would be coming for a visit, but wasn’t specific about the day.

The morning the body was discovered, his father had planned a trip into town, but was called back to the ranch because of some issues with flooding from recent rains.

He eventually left the ranch and headed into town, eventually finding his son.

Sheriff Dominguez said that the truck broke down about 24 miles from the highway. Mr. Parada walked in the heat of the day, it is assumed, and fell down about four miles from the family ranch. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
