Juarez

Leticia Juarez, known by all as “Lety,” passed on July 26, 2018 in her home in Presidio at the age of 77, surrounded by her children and family.

Lety was born in Tierras Nuevas, Chihuahua on March 21, 1941 to Albino and Eduviges Nieto and was raised in Ojinaga. While working at Telefonica de Ojinaga, she met Tobias “Toby” Juarez of Presidio whom she married in 1964. Toby and Lety raised their six children in Presidio where they owned and ran the Juarez Furniture Store.

Lety instilled a love of God and prayer in her children and was a loving and giving mother. Lety always put her children first while insisting on strict moral standards and discipline. Her children credit her and Toby with teaching them about honesty, charity, and the values of education and a strong work ethic. Lety loved to sing, dance, and bake.

For many years she volunteered at the Presidio schools and Presidio voter elections. Many people will remember her from her time at the Presidio Clinic and later when she worked at the Santa Teresa Church parish office—although her greatest joy in life was being with family. Lety was a devout Catholic with great faith and love of God. She was an active church member, serving as an altar server, Eucharistic Minister, and Catechist who prepared many children and youth for First Communion and Confirmation. She belonged to the ASNPAC group and loved her sisters in Christ.

She is survived by six children, Laura , Fernando, Zaira, Gerardo, Lisette and Christina, 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four sisters, Soledad Nieto, Socorro Castañeda, Rosario Navarrete, Bibiana Nieto and four brothers, Adalberto Nieto, Luis Carlos Nieto, Hector Nieto and Jesus Nieto. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Lety was preceded in death by Toby, her husband of almost 50 years who passed in 2014.

Rosary service was Monday, July 30 at Santa Teresa Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, July 31 at the church with burial in Desert Hills Cemetery. Fr. Mike Alcuino officiated.

The Juarez Family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations for the Casa Hogar Orphanage be sent to The Juarez Family, P.O. Box 460, Presidio, Texas 79845 in honor of Leticia Juarez.
