Letters to the editor

Dear editor,

Last Monday, as the sun was rising, we hit the road to travel from the border to the Basin. Our road trip was epic – we traveled 700 miles in one week, meeting residents and visitors across our wide broadcast range in locations such as Big Bend National Park, Terlingua Ghost Town, Alpine, Marathon, Fort Davis, Marfa, Odessa, and Midland. Our mission was simple: find out what people are curious about. No matter where we went, we met wonderful people and collected interesting questions We send a big thank you to everyone for coming out to meet us, submitting your questions, and supporting West Texas Wonders. Thanks especially to Alpine residents Chris Ruggia and Carolyn McCartney for helping create our project. And a big shout-out to our friends who made this trip possible: King Land & Water, Big Bend National Park, The Starlight Theatre, Jeff Gavin, Liz Rogers, Porter’s, Eve’s Garden, The Gage Hotel, Alaine Berg, Carol Peterson, Stone Village Market, Marfa Post Office, JD DiFabbio, HEB, Robert Martinez, Midland Centennial Library, Anita Gamertsfelder, John Trischitti, Out in West Texas, FMH Foundation, and Permian Basin Area Foundation. Our first story, “The Marfa Lights — Underground Lightning, Wandering Ghosts, or Something Else?” and our first voting round for our next story are online at http://marfapublicradio.org/curious/

Sincerely,

Elise Pepple, General Manager
