Library’s summer reading program a success

The City of Presidio Librarian and staff hosted the Summer Reading program the week of July 30th thru August 3rd, 2018.

“We would like to acknowledge the Presidio US Customs and Border Protection Agents with Presidio Border Patrol and Customs Agricultural Dept. whom provided the children with information regarding their line of work,” said Librarian Carmen Elguezabal. “They also volunteered to read to the children. We enjoyed the week and appreciate these agencies who volunteer and take the time out of their busy schedules.”

All the children and their parents in attendance enjoyed the week long presentations. The last day was held at the Texas Parks and Wildlife, Fort Leaton State Historic site for a tour of the Fort and we were also treated to a game of loteria (Bingo) which the children enjoyed very much. A pizza party was held for all in attendance. The student docents provided an excellent presentation to the children. “Thanks to all the staff at Fort Leaton for hosting the Library’s yearly summer reading program, we always have a wonderful time visiting and learning more about our local history,” Elguezabal said. “Thanks to the parents for bringing the children to the library and applying for a library card.”
