MARFA – The Big Bend Conservation Alliance and Trans Pecos Documentary team invite you to a free screening and town hall meeting to address the issues surrounding land rights and eminent domain on Saturday, August 25 from 5-7:30pm at the Crowley Theater in Marfa.
The evening’s program will include a short film featuring one of the 41 landowners whose property was condemned under eminent domain to construct the Trans Pecos pipeline.
The panelists, including David Yeates, CEO of the Texas Wildlife Association; Jim Bradbury, Counsel for Texans for Property Rights; Renea Hicks, attorney; Rex H. White, Jr., Former Assistant Attorney General and Former General Counsel to the Texas Railroad Commission; Coyne Gibson, former oil and gas systems engineer and volunteer with the Big Bend Conservation Alliance; Marissa Patton, Associate Legislative Director for the Texas Farm Bureau will discuss the need for common-sense reforms and answer questions from the audience. As it stands now, private landowners are significantly disadvantaged by the law. If you’re a landowner or a concerned citizen in the Big Bend region, this is a unique opportunity that you won’t want to miss.
