Port authority busy developing task force

PRESIDIO – A potential task force between the states of Texas and Chihuahua may be created in order to establish a blueprint for a plan to expand economic development for the border region with Mexico.

The executive director for the Presidio International Port Authority (PIPA), Jake Giesbrecht has travelled throughout Texas and Mexico to discuss the task force, a trade lanes program, public awareness and education program, implementation of technology and innovation of border strategies, and to foster private sector involvement. All of these go hand-in-hand and are an effort to be transparent, according to Giesbrecht.

Both Mexico and Texas see the expansion of the vehicle bridge and rebuilding the railroad bridge as economic opportunities as the flow of goods would be more accessible, the state of Chihuahua is making it a priority to establish this a future agricultural port.
