FAR WEST TEXAS – The United States Small Business Administration in El Paso is hosting seminars in Presidio, Marfa, and Alpine for entrepreneurs who want to start a new business, buy an existing business, or business owners who want to take their companies to the next level. These workshops will be presented by an experienced SBA Loan Officer and will give attendees the tools they need to obtain the required financing.
Here are the meetings:
Tuesday, September 11, 2-4pm Presidio Activity Center;
Wednesday, September 12, 9:30-11:30am, Centennial School, Alpine;
Thursday, September 13, 3-5pm, Marfa City Hall.

Connect with resource partners that provided free one-on-one confidential services to guide you through the process. The seminar will cover the specifics of SBA guaranteed loan programs including small loans for home-based businesses, real estate and manufacturing transactions, exporting loans, construction loans, lines of credit, and others. The El Paso District Office of the SBA is responsible for providing businesses with tools for enhancing and growing their businesses. It also oversees the delivery of SBA’s programs throughout the state such as:
Free counseling, advice and information on starting a business through SCORE, the Small Business Development Centers, and the Women’s Business Center (link is external). These organizations also conduct training events throughout the district.
Financial assistance for new or existing businesses through guaranteed loans made by area bank and non-bank lenders. Business development assistance via the 8(a) program, available to businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. Veteran’s assistance through the Boots to Business program and dedicated lending programs for Veterans.
