MSA holds Marfa artists salon for chinati open house weekend

MARFA – The Marfa Studio of Arts will hold a Marfa “Artists Salon” during the Made in Marfa event of the Chinati Open House Weekend. Any artist who is a resident of Marfa is welcome to participate.

The gallery will be open several days before the event and artists are encouraged to bring their work and hang it themselves. We hope the spontaneous installation of the gallery will encourage a lively and interesting show. Art work may be dropped off and installed Saturday, September 29 from 11-2; Monday, October 1 from 4-6 p.m.; and Tuesday, October 2 from 12 -4 p.m. Artists will be expected to hang their own work but MSA will provide hanging tools and supplies and will be there to assist. The placement will be on a first come, first serve basis so get your work over to the gallery at 106 San Antonio as soon as possible.

Show guidelines: No work can be larger than 3 feet in any direction; artists are limited to 2 works; and any piece that requires special installation must be approved by MSA. We also reserve the right to deny any work that could be considered offensive or inappropriate, as we are an organization that serves the children of the community. The MSA will request a 30% donation of any sales that will go to supporting the children’s art classes.

The opening reception will be Friday, October 5 from 5-10 p.m. The gallery will be open the Saturday and Sunday after the opening night. MSA will announce the installation dates prior to the event.
