Nancy Lou Crown Sanchez

(October 31, 1933 – August 22, 2019)

In loving memory of Nancy Lou Galindo Crown Sanchez, age 85, who passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 22, 2019 at City of Hope hospital in Duarte, California. Nancy was born on October 31, 1933 in Presidio, Texas, daughter of Nancy Barandey Galindo and husband Patrick W. (Casey) Crown, who together owned and operated the Oil Flyer Cafe in Presidio, Texas. The Oil Flyer Cafe opened in 1933 and was operated and owned by Nancy Barandey Galindo Crown until 1972. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Cesar Federico Juarez Sanchez, also born in Presidio, Texas, and her cousin, Lily Galindo Daly, who grew up with Nancy like a sister.

Nancy was a wonderful, caring and loving mother and grandmother. Nancy is survived by her two loving sons: Alfredo, and Cesar Saul and his wife, Melissa, and their son, Dario Patrick. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dora M. Sanchez, her family, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Nancy was a dedicated and beloved kindergarten teacher. She graduated from California State University in Los Angeles with a teaching credential in bilingual education –– emphasis Spanish. She taught kindergarten for the Montebello School District in California for 25 years. Nancy is also survived by many loving students and fellow teachers.

Nancy enjoyed many interests. One of Nancy’s favorite pastimes was Ikebana, which is the art of Japanese flower arrangement. She also enjoyed antique hunting and collecting colored glass. She also enjoyed over the years taking care of her many pets which included dogs, cats, birds and a tortoise. Nancy was an inspiration to her family and friends. Nancy was interred alongside her husband Cesar at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California on September 10, 2019.
