MARFA — The Marfa Public Library has received a $10,995 grant from the Catherine Dumraese Trust. The library will use the funds to work on outdoor projects in the courtyard: there will be a cutting herb garden, a butterfly/caterpillar garden and a seed lending library. The funds will also be used to create an outdoor classroom and purchase books that will cultivate children’s interest in the environment.

“We are committed to creating a space that will support meaningful transformations in our community and our youngest patrons’ daily lives,” says Library Director Nicki Ittner. “With this grant from the Dumraese Trust, we can begin to sow the seeds of science and wonder that will inspire the next generation’s environmental stewardship.”

The library remains closed to the public, but is open for book and DVD curbside pickup, computer access by appointment, as well as printing, copying and faxing services, and there is also now home delivery for patrons who are unable to visit the library. All requests can be directed to (432) 729-4631 or marfalibrarystaff@gmail.com, and more information can be found at https://www.marfapubliclibrary.org/programs.
