PRESIDIO COUNTY — In spam calls received by local residents from numbers that appear to be local, scammers are referencing the latest IRS stimulus payment and asking residents to share bank account numbers and other sensitive information.

The Presidio County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents not to share sensitive information over the phone. The IRS will not be making phone calls regarding the stimulus. The sheriff’s office said residents should never give out bank account numbers or other financial information over the phone.
