March 25 Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

On my 22-hour drive back to Florida from the Presidio/Ojinaga area, I had an opportunity to reflect on the reason behind my accidental, unintentional entry into Mexico with a legally  registered firearm in my vehicle. I asked myself, how is it possible that we don’t have a sign saying that you are leaving the U.S. and entering Mexico? And in fact the biggest sign there says “U.S Port of Entry”?

You can literally spend days in a Mexican detention center and tens of thousands of dollars in  attorney fees, fines and payoffs to get yourself and your possessions back to freedom, and the primary reason is that the U.S. doesn’t have clear signage, possibly because of renovations, at the bridge? Seriously, I hope no one else has to go through this.
