With heavy hearts, we are sad to announce that on April 2, 2023, at the age of 88, Lorina Tejada passed away. She was predeceased by her husband, Camilo Tejada, Oct 12, 2012. She’s survived by her brother, José Manuel Prieto (wife Luz Olga), of Alpine, Texas; her children Jaime, Maria, Mario, Teresa and José Antonio; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Lorina was born in Marfa on July 30, 1934. She was the granddaughter of Jose Prieto, a homesteader of Pinto Canyon in the early 1900s, and the daughter of Jose Prieto and Francisca Vasquez. She lived her early life In Carrizo and Ojinaga, Mexico, and eventually moved back to Marfa. She married in 1960 and went on to raise five children. She was a caring mother, aunt, sister and friend to everyone. She was a woman of faith and lived by the Catholic religion.
The greatest achievement was raising her children and leaving a nurturing gift of family and love.
The Rosary and Mass will begin at 1 p.m. April 5 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Marfa, Texas. Burial will take place at Merced Cemetery, with Reception following soon after at the Parish Hall.
