MARFA — A visiting woman died at the El Cosmico hot tubs on Sunday night, prompting an investigation by the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers.
Authorities received a 911 call at 10:15 p.m. to the hotel grounds, according to a basic information sheet provided by the Sheriff’s Office. A 49-year-old woman, identified as Leslie Griffin-Clark of Rockwall, was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Dina Jo Marquez at 10:45 p.m.
The cause and manner of death remain unknown. Judge Marquez ordered an autopsy, and the death remains under investigation. Authorities declined to comment further.
A spokesperson for El Cosmico declined to comment, instead directing The Big Bend Sentinel to local authorities.
