MARFA — As In A Mirror, an exhibition of flash photography printed on fabric by Logan Caldbeck, will be on view this weekend with an opening reception during Made in Marfa, Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Cobra Rock.
Caldbeck is a co-founder, designer and maker of Cobra Rock, a handmade leather shoe and boot maker in Marfa that will soon reach its 12-year anniversary. The occasion marks the first time she has shown work in town in around 10 years, though she has been sharing images online.
“This is my endeavor to get what I’ve been doing online out into the physical world,” said Caldbeck.
“The work is really about the unknown,” she added. “And then little flashes of discovery.”
The images printed on fabric are a new manifestation of Caldbeck’s work, combining her practices as a photographer and seamstress. She said she is excited to be one of many talented local artists to be showing work over Chinati Weekend.
“It feels like such a beautiful way to be part of the Marfa community on the Made in Marfa night,” said Caldbeck. “There’s so many artists that I really admire in this town.”
Cobra Rock, located at 211 S Dean St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 8.
