City of Marfa and Marfa PD host holiday toy drive this Friday

MARFA — The City of Marfa and the Marfa Police Department invite the community to the 2023 Blue Santa Food and Toy Drive at 6:30 p.m. at the USO/Marfa Visitor’s Center on Friday, December 15. 

Admission will be a nonperishable food item or an unwrapped toy. The event will include cookies and cocoa, pictures with “Blue Santa” from 6 to 9 p.m. and a dance with DJ La Única from 8 p.m. to midnight. The event is BYOB.

“We’d like to invite the community to our first-ever food and toy drive to benefit Marfa PD’s Blue Santa,” said Mayor Manny Baeza. “Help us make Christmas great for all of the kids in our community.”

Blue Santa is an initiative to donate toys to local children. If any business or person would like to donate an unwrapped gift or donation please contact the Marfa PD at 432-729-1841 and ask for Chief Carrillo or Lt. Fuentes, you may also drop it off at the Marfa Police Station, or on December 15 at USO. No specific age range or gender toy is being requested; any toy is appreciated.

The Marfa Police Department will deliver gifts this year with Blue Santa on December 21. In the event that the gifts cannot be delivered on Dec 21, parents and guardians will be able to pick up toys at the Marfa Police Department through December 23.
