From the archives: Parker child born with jurors waiting patiently in hospital

Volume 16, Number 23

August 22, 1941

Godfathers galore has L.L. (Fox) Parker, III when he arrived Friday morning of last week at Peterson Hospital.

On hand were the young man’s father, who was a jury member of a district court jury held overnight, all members of the jury and the sheriff J.D. Bunton.

It wasn’t proper –– or legal, to say it exactly –– for the young man’s father to be away from his fellow jurors even for the birth of his first born. It was arranged that the entire group would go to the hospital for the “blessed event.”

The baby weighed between six and seven pounds and was born on the wedding anniversary of his parents.
