Alex “Binky” Leos, 59, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away on March 13, 2024, peacefully in his home. Born on September 10, 1964, to Alejandro and Lola Leos, Alex leaves behind a legacy of love and community service and leadership.

Raised in Marfa, Texas, Alex graduated from Marfa High, where he met his high school sweetheart and lifelong love, Minerva. After graduating from Sul Ross State University in 1987, Alex and Minerva married on June 30, 1990, and raised their family in their hometown.

During his 38-year career in law enforcement, Alex served as an assistant port director for the United States government where he retired in 2021 and later worked for Big Bend Security.  Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alex dedicated himself to his beloved Marfa community and volunteered as a youth softball coach and served on the Marfa parks board where he spearheaded numerous parks improvement projects in support of Marfa’s youth sports programs. As a respected and revered community leader, Alex also served as a member of the Marfa Athletic Booster Club for over a decade, where he helped support and recognize the numerous academic and athletic accomplishments of the Marfa Shorthorns.

To know Alex was to love him, and Alex’s true pride and joy was his family, specifically his children and grandchildren. The title of “grandpa” was the title he wore with the most pride. He cherished every moment spent with his grandbabies, whether watching Camila play softball or Sebastian sink free throws, his love for them knew no bounds. His greatest spoils were saved for his two youngest grandchildren, Mallory and Olivia, whom he gifted often with hugs, kisses, and toys.

He will be fondly remembered as a caring leader and devoted family man who was a friend to all and stranger to none. Alex is survived by his cherished wife, Minerva Leos; his children Lora Leos Loya (Alpine, Texas), Myra Leos Ontiveroz (San Angelo, Texas), Brandon Leos (San Angelo, Texas); sons-in-law JC Loya (Alpine, Texas), Andrew Ontiveroz (San Angelo, Texas); his four grandchildren; brother Eddie Leos (El Paso, Texas); and sister Grace Bennett (El Paso, Texas).

Services will be held on March 21, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will take place at 9 a.m., followed by the praying of The Most Holy Rosary at 9:30 a.m. The funeral Mass begins at 10 a.m.
