PRESIDIO COUNTY –– Rio Grande Council of Governments, in collaboration with Workforce Solutions Borderplex, is excited to announce the launch of a new initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and addressing the critical need for affordable childcare options in the community.
The home-based childcare program has been specifically tailored to meet the growing demand for accessible childcare services, particularly within low- to moderate-income neighborhoods in Presidio County. By empowering individuals to start their own home-based childcare businesses, this program not only creates entrepreneurial opportunities but also serves as a vital resource in bridging the childcare gap.
“We recognize the pressing need for affordable childcare solutions in our community,” said Peggy O’Brien, local governments manager at Rio Grande Council of Governments. “Through this partnership with Workforce Solutions Borderplex, we are proud to offer a comprehensive program that not only supports budding entrepreneurs but also addresses the crucial childcare needs of working parents.”
The program offers participants a range of essential services, including:
– Family childcare and entrepreneurial development training
– Assistance in navigating the licensing process and qualifying for state and county childcare reimbursement
– Ongoing technical support and guidance
Key resources provided through the program include access to Texas Health and Human Services, Texas State Minimum Standards for Child Care Licensing, Childcare.Texas.gov, and Workforce Solutions.
