Voting for three open Marfa City Council places will be held Saturday from 7 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Casner Room in City Hall. Four candidates — including three incumbents — will be vying for three seats. Council members in Marfa are “at large” and do not serve specific seats, meaning voters will choose their top three candidates out of the four running.

The terms of council members Mark Morrison, Eddie Pallarez and Mark Cash are up in May, and all three have filed for reelection. Marfa resident Tony Georges has also filed for a city council seat.

Two city council spots are up for election in Alpine Saturday. In Ward 1, Jennifer Peel will face Reagan Stone; and in Ward 4, Lori A. Griffin will face Lucy E. Escovedo. Ward 2 candidate Eva L. Olivas is running unopposed, as is mayoral incumbent Catherine Eaves. Both have been declared elected. Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 803 W. Holland.

The City of Presidio will not hold an election because three candidates filed for three seats: Steve “Nicky” Alvarez, Joe Andy Mendoza and John Razo. Alvarez and Mendoza filed to run again and will keep their seats. Cristian Montoya filed to run and will replace Razo.
