TRI-COUNTY — Community Council of South Central Texas is announced that it has been designated as the CSBG Contract Subrecipient by the Texas Department Of Housing And Community Affairs for the counties of Brewster, Hudspeth, Culberson, Jeff Davis and Presidio (Big Bend Region).
Currently, CCSCT operates the Weatherization Program in the same area and wants to extend more services to the community. Area residents — “clients” — are encouraged to apply to see if they qualify for CEAP utility assistance, rental assistance, case management and other direct services as needed. Executive Director Bobby Deike stated, “CCSCT is excited about the opportunity to expand services in the Big Bend area through funding made possible by the Community Services Block Grant. CSBG allows Community Action Agencies, like CCSCT, to provide support services that alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty in under-resourced communities. CSBG focuses on the reduction of poverty, the revitalization of low-income communities, and the empowerment of low-income families and individuals in rural and urban areas to become fully self-sufficient.”
Potential clients interested in applying for services may contact their designated community services coordinators for more information on how to apply. For Presidio clients, the office is located at 102 W Center St., Presidio, TX 79845. Contact Ana Medrano at amedrano@ccsct.org or call 432-360-3716.
For clients in Brewster and Jeff Davis, the office is located at 710 Holland Ave Ste: 1, Alpine, TX 79830. Contact Brittany McDonald at bmcdonald@ccsct.org or call 432-243-0919.
