Two Redford men, arguing as they rode together in a pickup, shot each other to death and wounded a third man sitting in the middle of the seat of the vehicle Tuesday morning in Presidio.
Presidio County Sheriff Rick Thompson said Refugio Tarin, 33, was the driver of the pickup and Jesus Carrasco, 36, was riding in the passenger seat with Carrasco’s cousin, Manuel Carrasco, 54, sitting in the middle. Thompson said Tarin and Jesus Carrasco began arguing shortly after 7:30 a.m. and then each drew guns and shot each other inside the pickup and fatally wounded each other.
Jesus Carrasco was carrying a .38-caliber revolver and Tarin a 25-caliber automatic pistol, according to the sheriff’s office. Thompson said. “It was just three of them in the pickup and they started arguing. The poor guy in the middle didn’t have any place to go.” Thompson said he did not know what the argument was about or what caused it.
After the shooting the pickup ran into the Sanchez Phillips 66 station, hit a gas pump and a parked car before coming to rest near the vent pipes of an underground gasoline tank at the Ornelas Texaco station. Manuel Carrasco, also of Redford, wounded in the arm and shoulder, was taken to Big Bend Memorial Hospital in Alpine, where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday.
