MARFA — It’s that magical time of year — Summer Reading at Marfa Public Library kicks off Friday, July 5, and runs through August 10. Sign up at the library on Friday and get a free popsicle, paint a few rocks, and try our giant homemade bubble wand!
Can’t make it? You can register and track your reading online at marfalibrary.readsquared.com.
Earn points by reading — audiobooks, articles, comic books and graphic novels all count — and logging your progress. Don’t want to log your reading? The librarians can do it for you. Participants will earn rewards as they reach different benchmarks, plus raffle tickets for the grand prizes.
While you’re at the library for Summer Reading, be sure to peek into the children’s area and see the latest Make Believe Marfa installation, Marfa Mailroom, created by volunteers Harry Crofton and Adeline Schowengerdt. There’s a UPS truck, a delivery route, PO boxes, and more. There’s also a mail route, where you can deliver packages to your favorite stuffies.
These activities and Summer Reading are free and open to all. For more information, call 432-729-4631, visit marfapubliclibrary.org, and follow @marfalibrary on Instagram. Generous support provided by The Friends of the Marfa Public Library.
