Victor Joel Ybarra, a dedicated employee who retired from the Brewster County Road and Bridge, passed away July 25, 2024, in Odessa, Texas. Born in Alpine on February 28, 1960, Victor was a beloved son of George Ybarra Jr. and Luz Ybarra. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Ybarra; his children, Michael Ybarra, J.D. Portillo, and Amanda Loza; his grandson Ayven Loza; as well as his brothers Jesse, Tony, Flavio, Martin; and sisters Delma Houston and Chila Houston.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Ybarra Jr., mother Luz Ybarra, and niece Tanya Houston.
He was known for the joy he found in simple pleasures like listening to music and hosting barbecues at home. Victor had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors. His passion for maintaining the cemetery grounds and spending time with loved ones truly exemplified his generous spirit.
Victor Joel Ybarra’s legacy of hard work, kindness and dedication will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing he made a positive impact on those around him.
Visitation for Mr. Ybarra will take place at 10:30 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine. The praying of the Most Holy Rosary will begin at 11:30 a.m., also at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will begin at noon with interment to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Israel Natera, Jonathan Portillo Sr., Juan Carlos Valencia, Jose Baeza, Bobby Jimenez Jr. and Charlie Fuentez.
