The stands at the Sul Ross S.A.L.E. Arena in Alpine were packed Friday and Saturday with rodeo fans and families watching teams from Texas, Arizona and New Mexico work their horses with precision to sort and rope cattle. The rodeo is a tradition of events for working cowboys instead of pro rodeo competitors.
Events included Ranch Bronc Riding, Wild Cow Milking, Team Doctoring, Team Branding and Team Sorting. Adult cowboys competed on Friday and Saturday evenings with youth events held on Saturday morning. An awards ceremony was held at completion, followed by a dance at Amigo Sports Bar and Restaurant.
