MARFA — The Shorthorns are having a tremendous week of success in football and volleyball!
Marfa’s football team dominated Fort Hancock with a decisive 62-0 victory, powered by a strong offense and a relentless defense that forced multiple turnovers. Maverick Milligan was a standout, scoring four touchdowns, along with contributions from Alejandro Rodriguez, Manny Dominguez, Diego Jurado, Austin McGary and Abelardo Marquez, each scoring one TD. They’ll now look to carry this momentum into their Thursday game against Balmorhea.
The Lady Horns volleyball team is also on a roll, extending their winning streak to six games by defeating Kermit in their latest sweep of an opponent, which was a continuation of Saturday’s dominance over Balmorhea, as they beat the Bears in three sets as well. Itzel Urrutia, Raven Martinez and Loretta Rivera led with kills, while Ava Flores was a key playmaker, dishing out double-figure assists. They’ll be facing Grandfalls at home this Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
Both teams are performing at a high level, and the Shorthorn community is excited to see their next outing this weekend.
