MARFA — LéAna Clifton’s latest show of mixed-media original works opens October 11 in Marfa. This work consists of close-up, long-exposure color photography of freight trains, layered with various media to create deep, dream-like, abstract artworks.
Clifton is a Texas artist that has been interrogating various media and processes for over 18 years. In recent years she has focused on creating large-scale, long-exposure, abstract images of freight trains speeding through the West Texas desert. Her focus on large fields of color, finely balanced proportion and detailed line work hand painted over the photography speak to the sublime beauty of captured moments in time/life and enhanced (layered) memory.
The show will be at the VELDT Gallery, 119 N. Highland Avenue, Marfa, Texas from October 11 through December 31. For more information, see leanaclifton.com and @veldtgallery.
