MARFA — Bordo is hosting a fundraiser for Marfa resident Anthony DeSimone’s medical expenses Thursday, November 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. at their restaurant located at 1210 W San Antonio St.
Bordo owners Michael Anthony Serva and Hannah Texie Bailey announced the event on Instagram with the following message:
“This Thursday, we are coming together to fundraise for our very dear friend Anthony DeSimone’s medical expenses. While we want to respect the privacy of him and his family at this time; we also want to give the town and all his friends and loved ones the opportunity to rally around him and show him how much we love him.
“This is a very big deal for us. We usually do special events with little expectation of turnout or success. But we want this night to be truly special, with a big turnout and showout for such an incredibly special person.
“Whether it be his incredible music, acting in local plays, culinary skills, bread baking, vibrant and daring art, or just his perfect pallet: experience and acumen sourcing and curating wine and spirits at Cactus Liquors … Anthony, Tony, D, has touched all of our lives in some way, as an artist, a citizen, and friend.
“We wish we were honoring him under better circumstances, but are so to help assist him in his healing, and mending, and getting the care that he needs.”
The night will feature live DJing from Honky Tonk Happy Hour and DJ Rock Pile, projections from VJ Mellow Arms/Wayne Peacock and raffle prizes from local businesses and artists including Harry Crofton, Margaret’s, Wrong, Mira Marfa, Cactus Liquors and many more!
A bar provided by Cactus Liquors and Bordo will be cranking out pizza slices in different flavors, homemade Baja Blast gelato, and fried ravioli with homemade ranch dressing. Please note the Venmo tag — @adesimone — or bring cash. 100% proceeds are going towards Anthony.
