I wanted to praise your most recent DRAWING OF THE WEEK by Ranger Dugan who is a young artist who lives in Marfa and is in the 6th grade.
I was pretty excited by their drawing because it’s recognizable — the Marfa tower on
17, I think, and even the church nearby, but it’s abstract too and filled with patterning and wild cartoony clouds. I like the cross hatched supports of the tower, and I like that it’s a little tipped depending on how the artist looked at it, where they stood, and I bet this is amazing in color. It’s full of action. It’s a drawing and a film, sort of.

Wow, oh wow! What an amazing Thanksgiving we had. It obviously took a village to put together this special time in the Chinati Arena. Thank you to Caitlin and Sandra who gave up their Thanksgiving to make sure everything was available in the Arena. Thank you to Kaki and Mark and Marc for making sure we had plenty of turkey from the smoker and fryer.
Thank you to those known and unknown who provided many scrumptious sides and desserts. The church of St. Paul’s always manages to pull this off with many contributors of food and labor. We had volunteers from Ft. Stockton, Marathon, Alpine, and of course Marfa who made sure we had enough tables and chairs and always kept the food tables filled. And finally, thank you to everyone who came with their hunger, their joy and their gratitude. It made for a wonderful event which transformed the Arena into a place of joy and Thanksgiving.
We are grateful for those who contributed food and money to the Food Pantry. Also, thanks to The Sentinel and Marfa Public Radio for helping to inform people of this wonderful event. I always worry that there will not be enough food and yet, the miracle of the Loaves and Fishes rings true! Thank you, God.
