Update: The highway is now open and clear.

On Wednesday morning, yet another truck slammed its payload — hay — into the Highway 90 railroad bridge entering Alpine.

The Alpine Police reported on Facebook: “Highway 90 at the west end of town is closed. The bridge on the west side of town has been struck and suffered damage. Traffic will be detoured to Mosely Lane. Big trucks (18 wheelers) will not be allowed to detour and must use Hwy 118 if westbound and Highway 17 in Marfa [through Fort Davis] if eastbound. Duration of the closure is unknown at this time.”
