MARFA — Wrong is pleased to present LOCAL BODIES RAW, new work by artist Marion Quick, for the month of February. There will be an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, February 1.

Wrong is located at 110 N Highland Ave. Everyone is welcome.

Quick was raised in Marfa and is best known for his watercolor works of the area. LOCAL BODIES RAW is a different look at the same landscapes in a black and white reduction of the image. He omits color, vegetation and the footprint of mankind.

Quick has long considered the depiction of local landmarks as a figurative endeavor. LOCAL BODIES RAW is the presentation of the image as a body; isolated, nude and out of context with the surrounding landscape — representing the visual “icons” of the area, El Capitan, Twin Peaks or the Haystacks, for example, as the “bodies” they have become to those who live here and to those passing through. The surrounding mountains resonate with the space and volume of the area.

LOCAL BODIES RAW includes 30 large scale works of acrylic on Nujabi handmade paper.
